Vol 1 #4 - Marriage - The Dream Quest For Inner Wholeness
Crow...are you "cawing" so I may know the secrets of balance within my soul? Or are you sending your
"caw" just to remind me of universal laws? (1)
The fundamental philosophy of the editorial Staff at ARIADNE'S WEB ™ is that all existence is essentially spiritual. We fully acknowledge, however, that familiarity does indeed breed contempt and, as such, the more familiar aspects of our human existence have, for far too many of us, lost their power to awe and inspire. In consequence thereof, we have the tendency to look "elsewhere", more or less unconsciously, for the awe and inspiration which comes with spiritual awareness. We therefore become somewhat blind to the many miracles which surround us everyday, choosing to believe instead that spirituality must be sought in the unusual. Nevertheless knowledge and responsibility are inevitable bed-fellows.
In recognition of this fact we, at ARIADNE'S WEB™, are dedicated to weaving the threads of Science, Tradition, and Spirituality into a tissue of thoughts and ideas understandable to those who seek to know themselves as essentially spiritual beings. In the spirit of the Pythagoreans of old, we are pledged to showing the relationships between the manifest world and the non-manifest, between man and his activities and the Universe, for indeed man is a Microcosm. No where is this woven fabric more evident than in this current issue of ARIADNE'S WEB ™ dealing with the subject of Marriage.
The lead article, Marriage: A Dream-Quest for Inner Wholeness not only gives a brief historical overview of the human institution of Marriage, but goes on to draw a parallel between the urge for human relationships and the urge to those atomic interactions known to us as Chemistry. This article proceeds to trace the various stages involved in gender differentiation, ranging from the genetic to the archetypal, and ends by suggesting that the human institution of Marriage is but a social instrument by means of which the Ego is presented with the opportunity for Personal Integration, a condition necessary for the ultimate marriage - the union between the Ego and the Self or the Divine within us all.
Then there is the article by Sylvie Chermet-Carroy dealing with the astrological aspects of The Relationship of The Couple: The Encounter of The Other, a theme which is exploited more fully by Emile Gillabert in his treatment of the romantic notion of Human and Divine Love: East and West, as it relates to the encounter of "the divine other" in the glance of the beloved. For his part, Frank Hatem answers nine important and frequently asked questions dealing with Sexuality and Spiritual Evolution. On a more personal note, in The Blessing Called Marriage, Jayne M. Howard speaks of her personal challenge in overcoming the effects of a bad marriage and subsequent divorce, while in the epic poem The Fury-Quest of Blathasar, B'Ainzoph LeMat recounts a personal struggle in quest of the Spiritual Marriage of the Soul.
Following this theme of the Spiritual Marriage, this issue's Entering the Sanctuary focuses on the need for resolving inner conflicts if one truly desires to make spiritual progress. Whereas Mustikuma informs us of the negative influence of stress in the healing process, in Metaphysiology we conclude the article on Homeopathy by Dr. Marie-Christine Dauge-Geffroy whose work suggests that this Other Medicine of Hippocrates may be ideal for those who have made some progress in integrating Body and Mind.
Finally, in this issue's "Esoteric Streams: Schools of Thought", we are particularly pleased to feature the Center For Inner Initiative which is a vehicle for the Order of the Lily and the Eagle, an ancient initiatic school presently having centers in Europe and the United States.
For your added enjoyment, beginning with the current issue, we are pleased to present our News and Reviews feature. In addition, WEB TALK features few letters to the Editor. In this regard, do let us continue to hear from you. And if there is any topic you would like to see covered in a future edition of ARIADNE'S WEB™ then please do not hesitate to let us know. Once again, thanks for your support!
Yours - OHW.
