Vol 2 #1 - Quantum Spirituality

Crow...are you "cawing" so I may know the secrets of balance within my soul? Or are you sending your
"caw" just to remind me of universal laws? (1)

My many years of association with countless individuals in pursuit of the "spiritual life" have left me with the distinct impression that the vast majority of "seekers" are of the opinion that "spirituality" has little or nothing to do with the physical world. Similarly, my many years as a scientist have equally left me with the impression that the vast majority of "scientists", for their part, believe that the pursuit of reality and objectivity has little or nothing to do with the invisible world of their own inner unconscious mechanisms. Thus, in either case, seeker or scientist, we see evidence of a kind of "extremism" which seems difficult to reconcile since, in both cases, the point of view is one of exclusion. But as my little old Grand Mother used to say to me when I was a child: "Too far East is West".

We find therefore that physicists, in their relentless pursuit of reality through the rigorous study of the material world, have come face to face with the inner, just as the spiritual seeker, if he or she is rigorous in his or her pursuit of reality, is equally obliged to deal with the demands of physical life - demands which, whether they like it or not, in one way or another force them to evolve their own spiritual awareness. Poised precisely between these two extreme positions is that of the "adept" who, at once a "scientist" and a "seeker", aims to integrate, to reconcile and to harmonize the "two worlds" - the inner and the outer.

The current issue of ARIADNE'S WEB™ is dedicated to the position of the "adept" as represented in MUSTIKUMA. Its theme, Quantum Spirituality, attests to the fact that there must be a "scientific" approach to spirituality, just as there must be a "spiritual" approach to science. Thus, our lead article, "A Matter of Mind or The Spiritual Nature of the Universe" begins by drawing parallels between the behavior of electrons in the Quantum World and the behavior of human consciousness in general, using phenomena in the dream state to illustrate how consciousness imitates the behavior of electrons in the atomic world.

A more scientific-philosophical approach is represented by the three-part article entitled: The Unity of Mind and Matter by Jean E. Charon, French Physicist-Philosopher and author of The Unknown Spirit. In these articles Dr. Charon goes to great lengths to show that the physical Universe is essentially spiritual, while Dr. Frank Hatem, in LOVE: Energy of the Universe argues that there is but one force in the Universe - Love - and  that all other forces are but variants thereof. For his part, Erik Sablé focuses on the Method and Mystery of the Contemplation of the Heart, which is indispensable for spiritual awakening. In this regard, our newest feature - PRAKTICUM - which is our response to the many subscribers who have requested more practical methods, focuses on Developing the Intuition through the use of a well researched method called The Alchemical Tarot of  the Pythagoreans and which represents an important feature in the series of Workshops being sponsored by ARIADNE'S WEB™ entitled Shaping Your Destiny - Happiness Is Not a Fatal Disease. So important is the role of Intuition, the Intelligence of the Heart, in our lives that it alone permits appreciation of art as expressed in this Issue’s poem entitled The Chevalier and Death.

In the second of a series of interviews with spiritual leaders of our times, we present Part I of Quantum Spirituality: An Interview with Robert Linssen - longtime friend and collaborator of the renowned Krishnamurti. In this interview Mr. Linssen spells our, among other things, the remarkable rapprochement between spirituality and Quantum Physics in recent years and suggests that the ultimate goal of psychology as it relates to spirituality must be to answer three fundamental questions: How do we think? Why do we think? and Who thinks? For ultimately it is not just who thinks, but what is thought which determines one’s experiences in life. So vital is this fact that we have featured it our METAPHYSIOLOGY® article entitled The ANS,, Emotions, Health and the Divine, and in DIDYANO.

Finally, as if to underscore the potential for spiritual awakening in every human endeavor, Dr., Mark Moulton, in Entering the Sanctuary, suggests Science and Industry as Sanctuary. For her part, Ann A. Burns brings us  back to the essence of this issue’s theme, Quantum Spirituality, by having us focus our attention on the stars. And in Esoteric Streams - Schools of Thought we are pleased to feature ARC - Ancient Rosae Crucis.

Yours - OHW.
