Vol 2 #4 - The Esoteric Traditions
Crow...are you "cawing" so I may know the secrets of balance within my soul? Or are you sending your "caw"
just to remind me of universal laws? (1)
When we first decided that the theme of this issue of ARIADNE'S WEB™ would focus on the World’ Esoteric Traditions, it was immediately evident to us that we had to present some aspects of the ONE TRADITION which do not ordinarily get presented in our predominantly Judeo-Christian culture. We believe that we have succeeded, at least to some degree, because although what appears here is certainly not the last word on the subject, we feel certain that it will give our readers a somewhat different take on what constitutes The Tradition and how the various "schools" fit in.
In this regard we have chosen a number of articles which present valuable information on various Traditions. Thus, in a short article, Secret Traditions of Atlantis in Egypt, Serge Hutin assures us that the King’s Chamber in the Great Pyramid of Cheops was never intended as a tomb but rather it was used as a Chamber of Initiation. For her part, Renée-Paule Guillot, in her article Esoterism of The Ethnic Minorities: The Bohemians, reveals to us some of the profound mysteries associated with the rituals and practices of the Gypsies in their veneration of the Black Madonna. And we are fortunate indeed to have an article by Emile Dantine, taken from The Archives of Le Monde Inconnu, on Moslem Hermetism. On the other hand, without going into specifics, our lead article entitled The Esoteric Traditions points out that the various "Esoteric Traditions" known to the general public are but techniques or approaches to the ONE TRADITION, while in Esoteric Streams Jean-Pierre Bayard touches upon the Traditions of the Druids.
On the level of practical application to meet the demands of modern living, in his article entitled The Super-Symbolic Society and Freemasonry, Dr. Norman Pearson highlights some of the many challenges with which this particular Tradition is faced in our modern world and seems to challenge the Masonic Establishment to make certain changes which seem necessary and more in tune with today’s world. In the same vein, in GLACIS 2, David W. Lincoln of the Bernard de Tremblay Preceptory, draws upon his knowledge of Templar History to give us some indication as to the role which modern Templars may play in their attempts at making the world a better place.
This issue’s Entering The Sanctuary features Spirit, Part I - First Encounters by Dr. Mark Moulton, while Metaphysical Healing and The Subconscious Mind is the title of our METAPHYSIOLOGY® feature. For its part, MUSTIKUMA deals with The Least Among Us..., while in Plant Alchemy - Part Three is the final installment of this series by Mark Stavish.
Book reviews on The Soul of Shamanism by Daniel C. Noel, and on Teachings of the Winged Disk by Phaedron are presented by Sarah L. Anderson.
Your thoughts and opinions are important to us so please do not hesitate to let us know what you think of how we are doing.
Yours - OHW.
