Description:

Monolid magazine, also known as Notes from the Asian Underground! Monolid magazine is a bi-monthly 'zine geared towards Asian Asians around the country and touches on such hot-button issues as "Why are so Many Asian Women Resorting to Eyelid Surgery to look more Western," "Why Asians have the highest rate of Mental Illness in the Country," and "Japanese-Americans: a Vanishing Race." Each issue of Monolid magazine will contain a section devoted to fiction and poetry as well as that of philosophy and religion.

The mission of Monolid magazine is to scope out those gems of Asian American life that are buried in the mainstream media and bring them to the fore; a myriad of stories are forming along the edges of a motley and vari-coloured culture and it would be a crime to let them lay dormant, silent and unheard. It is Monolid's dream to bring those pockets of brilliant subculture to a wider audience whose stomachs are hungry for substantial fare on race, culture and media.
